Web Site Helps
5 Ways to Keep Your Web Site Costs Lower

Everyone likes to save money. In an effort to keep more money in your bank account and out of ours, we offerg a few tips to help you save some money.

In web site development, time is money. It's that simple. Whenever we can save time, it will save you money. Here are a few ways to do just that.

    1. Provide digital logos and images. Whenever possible provide logos, images and other graphics in digital format. Some graphical elements will always have to be developed from scratch, and nearly any image can be scanned or recreated, but if is already in digital form, it will save scanning or development time. Images can be in almost any format and delivered via most any medium. (CD-ROM, floppy disc, email, zip disc, etc.)

    2. Provide digital copy. Do you already have the copy you wish to use in a Word document on your computer? By sending the electronic file, it will save time so that it won't need to be retyped. The text may be copied and pasted into the code for formatting. Any text document will work for this process.

    3. Provide design ideas. Sometimes people will say, "build me a site", but they don't really know what they want it to look like. By sketching some ideas on paper or looking at other sites to find layouts, color schemes or ideas that you like, it will save time in the design phase of the site. If you've seen a web site or even part of a web site that you really like, make a note of it. There are millions of good sites on the web and it's a great source of inspiration. One note of caution. It's great to get input from many different people for your site design, but you may get very different ideas from each of them. One person needs to make the final decision.

    4. Reusable elements. If there are places where similar images or elements can be used, it will often save time in the development process. If you have purchased images for use in a print brochure, use it on your web site. You may have paid for it already; get maximum exposure out of it. This also adds consistency to your entire marketing effort.

    5. Get a number of people involved. Have one person get the copy together. Have someone else get the images. Have someone else work on the marketing for your site. Spread the work around so that no one becomes overwhelmed or bogs down the development process.
